For the past few months I’ve been passively poking at making my own skin for LOTRO since I’m unable to find what I like well enough to keep in the premade ones other players have made. I’m a minimalist and with the standard bar putting all the quickslot bars straight up the center with an obscene amount of space taken up by just the system and bag buttons, I’ve been annoyed.

Skinning isn’t hard. It uses TGA files with alpha maps defined to be interlaced, as well as XML scripting to designate where everything goes, their size, and which files to use. But I’m definitely still learning, and am no where near comfortable enough to make these for public release yet.
But for the skin I’m working on, I’m using pretty much all of the Delving Hills UI, but I’ve completely rehauled the toolbar into a much more minimalist bar. All you have is the doorway as the auto-attack button, and the flowers act as the system buttons. Completely took out the bag buttons as I have zero use for them (I use the I button to open all five at once). The text stating which each flower is, isn’t actually part of the skin, it’s simply to mark them for this post alone.
I don’t know, I’m pretty pleased with myself. I rarely venture into trying to learn much of anything new anymore that can be considered as crafty. I had quite a few comments about my last version of the toolbar which looked like a Delving version of Rune-Keeper UI… and I definitely like this one far more… So we’ll see, I’ll probably release it in the near future.
