I keep being lazy and fully neglect bothering to post anything. No real reason for it other than lack of motivation.
Over the past few weeks, my primary focus has definitely been on LOTRO. Our hobbits now sit at 55, and hope to level to 56 before the night is out. We’re at a point now, where we just cannot wait at all to get out of Moria and quest within Nimrodel. The quest chains we were working on today are more than enough reason to leave the horrible maze.

The red dot is where the outpost, Orc-Watch, is located… and where all the quests come from and are turned in. The blue dot is where we have to repeatedly return to in order to kill mobs and/or collect items for these quests. The problem is, it’s perhaps a 20 minute run on foot, through completely orc infested tunnels we’d have to fight through, if we didn’t keep buying rent-a-goats to Twenty-First Hall and dismount when we pass the quest area. And of course, this rented mount really starts to add up at 28s a pop, because of the fact the quest area is much closer to Twenty-First, we run on foot there and rent another goat back to Orc-Watch. So far, we’ve had six separate quests that keep ping ponging us back and forth to this area. Of course we can’t do them continuously all at once, they’re chained and can only do one at a time and I was literally cussing when I picked up the last one and opted to quest within Redhorn Lodes for awhile instead.
And even though I still find Moria quite intriguing to look at, I haven’t had the heart to snap a single screen shot in over a week due to the fact that it is just such a horrible area to quest within. David made the description today that dwarves have the building skill of ants. They just dig in whatever direction they feel like. Start a tunnel here, stop it and start another tunnel in a completely different direction. The whole mines are just mazes. The fact that there are orcs and goblins at every turn just makes it all the more aggravating and harder to navigate. Redhorn Lodes, Waterworks and the garden within Durin’s Way are perhaps my favorite areas so far, but I just want nothing more than to GET OUT.

On the FFXI front, Dynamis has been fairly kind to me over the past couple weeks. Finally obtained my Armlets, had an uneventful Bastok where both BRD and MNK randomly dropped on me when no one lotted; and were subsequently tossed, and then a Briault dropped and I won with an 800 something roll.
Since I installed Windows 7 two and a half weeks ago, I’ve been having this very disorienting lag on FFXI where I usually have to wait 5-10 seconds to see anything die. And not lag in the sense where I can’t move and I’m just sitting there waiting, but lag in the sense where it’s those extra seconds before I see the final weaponskills being fired off, but the person who used it is about 10 yards away already. Best example I can provide of this is the following clip:

Had there been any other mobs, you would’ve seen the people already fighting the next target, before I’d see the animations for their weaponskills. And it’s like this for nearly everything, not just Dynamis. It’s especially disorienting in the experience parties I’ve had on SAM, particularity the one I had to pull for as I kept being thrown off as to when to go grab the next colibri. I’m hearing stories where I’m not the only one, to where it might be 7, to where it might just be my Crapcast internet connection that likes to repeatedly fail on me still. Whatever it is, it makes my FFXI life rather obnoxious. What makes it odder, is David has yet to report any issues on his game, and he’s running 7 as well… and obvious the same connection I’m on.
SAM currently sits at 60 though, so at least some progress has been made.

I get the WS animation delay too and I'm running windows xp. It could just be regular old lag. My computer just hates me. I'm running pretty much the same specs as my bf's computer and mine lags 1-2 seconds behind his with me sitting right next to him. It's annoying but you get used to it I guess.
I actually had to think about it… We didn't install 7 on David's PC till last Friday, and that movie was made on last Thursday. He's reporting the same lag now… but despite that, I think it's server lag from FFXI, rather than anything on our end. I don't know… it's so random and odd, it doesn't do it on every single fight, just the majority, lol.
