I’m Holier Than Thou!

I’m Holier Than Thou!

The idiotcy, douche-baggery, and overall retardation of people will never cease to amaze me.

Taking Nadzia through the number of random groups the past week as I have, I’ve come across more than I ever really care to in a lifetime… but for some reason, the past two days, they’ve been condensed into almost every group I get. I feel as though I’m playing my summoner again when I’m a balance druid, just because this string has been so irritating. But unlike in FFXI where I take responsibility for at least a portion of the bad parties because I was too lazy to form decent ones myself… WoW’s LFG system is completely random and unless they were guildmates, it’s a complete surprise as to who I’ll be grouped with each time, as the players are pooled from 20 different servers.

More often than not, because tanks are the lowest in supply… these players tend to adopt a “holier than thou” attitude that, when you think of a person having an ego so immense in a video game… really puts at least a little perspective on how their lives must truly be. I’m not aiming to throw stereotypes around, I’m more or less just noting that, to be so worked up and upset about what’s going on with pixels and ignoring that there are players behind the screen… I really wish they’d develop more maturity in their lives. Humbleness and sugar go miles further than any of the bullshit they’re passing out.

And now as I wait the next 9 minutes on my dungeon cooldown due to being vote kicked during the minute and a half I was offline due to WoW crashing on me… I offer these examples.

The first, I had asked if we could do the “extra” two bosses in Halls of Stone. Where yes, I recognize it’s “more time”, but really, I estimate maybe 8 minutes to clear to and kill both with a competent group. Dungeon cooldown is 15 minutes, so maybe at the worst, you’re losing five minutes you can’t be seeking another group. I do not understand the complaint so many have with that instance, it’s quick… and the required fights for the clear are the only bad ones. Where a DPS can take upwards of 10-20 minutes to find another PuG (tank it’s almost instant every time), it’s not unreasonable to want to milk the most out of the ones I get. I simply disbanded the group.

The second, I was screamed at for being a “bad druid”… and using an ability I have not spent the talent points to have, not even once. This was by the tank, who immediately dropped group after his little spat.

The third is the funniest to me. The entire instance, they’re nitpicking the death knight’s and my damage… what I gathered, the DK was just as new to 80 as I was, although, far newer as his gear score was low. The three boasting the whole time, guildmates of each other and all well geared. They’re staring at the damage meter of overall damage, which… is never something a person should focus on, as when a trash mob can die within seconds… of course those with longer delays or cast times are going to fall far behind on the numbers. I suppose it was “my mistake” for speaking up, as what I’m guessing the proper reaction would’ve been to stay silent and suck each of their godly dicks… since they opted to vote kick me right as we engaged the final boss Loken. I have to say, I laughed heartily of the whole 2 emblems and 35g they robbed me of. Oh woe is me.

My only true complaint in all of this has to be the simple fact, so many bad run ins has had the result of me rarely, if ever, chatting in these PuGs anymore. And I suppose that’s where these jackasses truly win, because that’s my entire reason for playing MMOs… is not the time kill, but rather, the interaction with other humans… for some companionship, even if it’s only to be for 20 minutes of your day.
